Facts about Easter...
Easter is always the first Sunday after
the first full moon after the spring equinox, which is March 20th. This is based on the lunar calendar the Hebrew people
used to identify Passover. For this reason, it moves around on our Roman calendar. The next time Easter will be this early will be in the year 2228. The last time it was this early was 1913. (source unknown)
Come See What Love Can Grow!At Canticle Farm, our mission flows from love of God, love of Creation, love of the Earth and love of all people. Canticle Farm has a commitment to connect to all peoples, to practice earth-friendly habits, and to come to a realization of a creation-centered spirituality. Canticle Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm,
using organic farming methods. We have just completed our
seventh season. During the 2007 season, 135 summer full-share equivalents were sold and approximately
22 percent was donated to ten local agencies. These donations are provided through grants as well as individual donations.
We are now in the process of building a greenhouse on the property which will extend the growing season even longer. Read more about Canticle Farm

The Dwelling Place - A Refuge for Women Thirty years ago, The Dwelling Place opened its doors to homeless women in New York City. With the hope of providing a place to sleep, eat, take a shower or just relax from the harshness of the streets, women were seeking help quickly. Most of these women were chronically homeless or women recently discharged from state hospitals. The 80's brought a new wave of women made poor by taking away their hous-ing. Gentrification was a practice whereby neighborhoods were upscaling at an alarming rate, causing people to be-come displaced and without the security of their own home. Visiting Sr. Kathie in Hebronby Ellen Nash, Associate In January 2008, I visited Sr. Kathie Uhler, OSF, who is working with Christian Peacemaker Teams in Hebron. As we approached the city, there were many roadblocks, dead-end streets, and soldiers with rifles. We passed though enclosed alleyways and shops that date back 400-600 years. While we sat around an electric heater, Sr. Kathie and Janet served us tea and cookies and we got into an enlightening conversation about the Israeli/Palestinian situation. We were taken to the roof of their three story apartment to view the expansive city and the tomb of Abraham in the distance. It is obvious that this is a volatile and sad situation. This magnificent Holy Land, with thousands of years of history and religious strife, seems unable to take to heart God's message of love and reconciliation. In my own heart, I could feel our Lord saying to us all: Love one another, as I have loved you. In your prayers, please remember Sr. Kathie, her Christian Peacemaker Team friends, and all courageous people in this world, who are God's light in the darkness to those suffer-ing injustice. They are a voice, a peaceful presence to those in need, and a vision of hope, love and peace in this broken world. Read more about Sr.Kathie's ministry Do you have any special prayer requests?
